This Apple Cider Donut Cake captures all the cozy flavors of fall with apple cider, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Topped with a sweet apple cider glaze, it’s a perfect dessert for autumn gatherings or a cozy treat anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (use dry mix only)
  • 1 cup apple cider (not apple juice)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (cinnamon flavor preferred)
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for coating)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • Optional Apple Cider Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, apple cider, applesauce, and eggs. Mix well.
  • Add cinnamon, brown sugar, and vanilla extract, and blend again.
  • Grease and flour a bundt pan, then pour the batter into the pan.
  • Bake for 45 minutes. Test with a toothpick, and when it comes out clean, remove from the oven.
  • Let the cake cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
  • Optional Apple Cider Glaze:
  • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and apple cider until smooth and desired consistency.

Notes

  • For extra fall flavor, substitute Duncan Hines Spice Cake Mix.
  • For gluten-free, use a gluten-free cake mix or flour blend.
  • Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a special touch.
