Baked Brie in puff pastry is an easy, elegant appetizer that combines creamy Brie cheese with sweet figs, savory prosciutto, and honey, all wrapped in buttery puff pastry. This baked Brie dish is perfect for holiday gatherings, special occasions, or any cheese lover looking for a warm, savory, and sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 8 oz)
  • 46 slices of prosciutto
  • 1/4 cup fig jam or fresh figs, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to a size that will fully wrap the Brie wheel. Place the Brie in the center.
  3. Layer with Prosciutto: Lay the prosciutto slices over the top of the Brie, overlapping them slightly.
  4. Add Figs: Spread a thin layer of fig jam on top of the prosciutto or arrange fresh fig slices on top.
  5. Wrap the Brie: Fold the corners of the puff pastry over the Brie, enclosing it completely. Seal the edges by pressing the pastry together.
  6. Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the surface of the puff pastry for a golden, glossy finish.
  7. Bake: Place the wrapped Brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Serve: Drizzle honey over the top and garnish with fresh rosemary if desired. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought fig jam or fresh figs depending on availability.
  • For a different flavor, try adding a touch of balsamic vinegar over the figs before wrapping.
  • Serve with sliced baguette, crackers, or fresh fruits for dipping.
