Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
- Prepare Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, about ¼-inch thick.
- Stuff with Cheese: Place shredded mozzarella in the center of each chicken breast and roll it up tightly. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
- Coat the Rolls: In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Dip each chicken roll in the beaten egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Bake: Place the coated chicken rolls in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Add Marinara: Remove from the oven and spoon warm marinara sauce over each roll. Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top, then bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Garnish & Serve: Remove toothpicks, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot with pasta or salad.
