These Banana Bread Donuts are soft, moist, and full of flavor, just like homemade banana bread! Baked instead of fried, they’re a healthier alternative to traditional donuts. With a slight sweetness from maple syrup and a hint of vanilla, these donuts are perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup mashed banana
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tbsp oil or water
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cup flour (white, spelt, oat, or gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: mashed banana, maple syrup, oil or water, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan.
  • Bake for 8 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize with add-ins like mini chocolate chips or walnuts.
  • To make this recipe vegan, use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • For a sweet topping, try cinnamon sugar or frosting.
