Decadent and rich, these French Silk Brownies combine fudgy brownies with a light and creamy chocolate silk topping, finished off with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for the ultimate dessert treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs (pasteurized)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Chocolate curls or shavings (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare brownie mix according to the package instructions. Bake in a 9×13-inch pan and let cool completely.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and beat until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating for 2-3 minutes after each addition to ensure a silky texture. Mixture should be light and fluffy.
  5. Spread the chocolate silk mixture over the cooled brownies evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  7. Spread the whipped cream over the chocolate silk layer.
  8. Garnish with chocolate curls or shavings if desired.
  9. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving to set layers.

Notes

  • Use pasteurized eggs to safely consume raw eggs in the silk layer.
  • Chilling is essential to firm up the layers for clean slicing.
  • Can be made a day ahead for convenience.
