Ingredients

  • 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup (60g) sour cream, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk, room temperature
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup (75g) finely chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tsp strawberry puree (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sour cream, milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
  6. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each about 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with 1–2 teaspoons of strawberry puree until smooth and desired consistency is reached.
  10. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze and let set.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Make sure not to overmix the batter for tender donuts.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • You can double the glaze if you like a thicker coating.
