Golden baked apple fritters infused with warm spices and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze—a perfect cozy treat for any time of the year.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small rounds.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. While baking, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl to make the glaze.
  9. Let fritters cool slightly, then drizzle or dip them in the glaze.
  10. Allow glaze to set before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for a richer flavor.
  • Don’t overmix the batter to keep the fritters light.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat slightly before serving.
