This Better Than Anything Toffee is a simple and irresistible homemade candy made with just a few ingredients. Crunchy, buttery toffee is topped with melted chocolate and chopped pecans for the perfect sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches 285°F (soft crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Immediately pour the toffee into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for 1-2 minutes until melted, then spread the chocolate evenly over the surface.
  6. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the melted chocolate, pressing them down slightly.
  7. Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator until set.
  8. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use a candy thermometer for accuracy to avoid under or overcooking.
  • Chop pecans finely for better adherence to the chocolate layer.
  • Store toffee in a cool, dry place to prevent melting or becoming sticky.
  • You can use different nuts like almonds or walnuts if preferred.
