Ingredients
For the salad:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
6 cups chopped romaine lettuce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced pickles
1/2 cup diced onion
1 cup halved cherry tomatoes (optional)
Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
For the “special sauce” dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon pickle juice (from the jar)
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt, to taste
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
In a small bowl, whisk together all dressing ingredients until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
In a large salad bowl, layer lettuce, cooked beef, cheese, pickles, onion, and tomatoes if using.
Drizzle with the special sauce dressing and toss lightly.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving, if desired.
Notes
For a healthier version, use lean ground turkey or chicken.
Make it keto-friendly by using sugar-free ketchup and mayo.
Assemble just before serving to keep lettuce crisp.
