Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (or preferred sweetener)
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 Tbsp water (to mix with cornstarch)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  • Over medium heat, stir occasionally and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes until the blueberries soften.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry.
  • Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the blueberry sauce, stirring constantly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Serve on your favorite dishes and enjoy!

Notes

  • Sweetness level: Adjust the sugar to your taste. You can substitute with honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar for a different sweetness.
  • Spices: Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract to elevate the flavor.
  • Berry variations: Use blackberries, raspberries, or mixed berries for different flavors.
