These Buttery Cheese Garlic Rolls are soft, fluffy, and packed with garlic butter and melty cheese—perfect as a side for any meal or a delicious snack on their own.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for garlic butter)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Flatten each piece, add a spoonful of mozzarella cheese, then shape into a ball, sealing the cheese inside.
  7. Place rolls into a greased baking dish or cast iron skillet.
  8. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with minced garlic.
  11. Brush the garlic butter generously over the rolls.
  12. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use any melty cheese like cheddar or gouda instead of mozzarella.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven.
  • For extra garlic flavor, double the garlic in the butter topping.
