This Caprese Sandwich is a fresh, flavorful twist on the classic Italian Caprese salad, layered with juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, all tucked into a crusty baguette.

Ingredients

  • 1 small baguette or ciabatta roll, sliced in half
  • 23 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 23 slices of ripe tomato
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the baguette or ciabatta roll in half lengthwise.
  2. Drizzle the cut sides with extra-virgin olive oil.
  3. Layer the bottom half with fresh mozzarella slices.
  4. Add tomato slices on top of the mozzarella.
  5. Season the tomatoes with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Add a generous layer of fresh basil leaves.
  7. Drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  8. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread and press down gently.
  9. Slice and serve immediately, or wrap for later.
