Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the wet mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
  10. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough to maintain a chewy texture.
  • Use parchment paper for easier removal and cleanup.
  • Bars will continue to firm up as they cool, so don’t overbake.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
