These homemade chicken nuggets are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and easy to make with simple ingredients. Perfect for a quick dinner or a fun snack, they beat store-bought nuggets any day.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 2 eggs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into nugget-sized pieces and place them in a bowl.
  2. Add buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results).
  3. Prepare a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  4. Take each chicken piece from the marinade, coat in flour, dip in eggs, then cover with breadcrumbs. Repeat for all pieces.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry chicken nuggets in batches, without overcrowding the pan, for 4–5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • You can bake or air fry the nuggets for a healthier option.
  • Marinating longer enhances the flavor and tenderness.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
