Chili Lime Shrimp Tostadas are a vibrant Mexican-inspired dish with shrimp marinated in lime juice and chili spices, served on crispy corn tostadas with fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, avocado, and crema.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 corn tostadas
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 avocado or 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Mexican crema
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Optional: pickled onions, queso fresco, hot sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine shrimp with lime juice, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, olive oil, and salt. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side, or until pink and fully cooked.
  3. If desired, warm the tostadas in the oven for a few minutes to enhance crispness.
  4. Assemble each tostada with shredded lettuce, cooked shrimp, diced tomatoes, avocado or guacamole, and a dollop of sour cream or crema.
  5. Top with chopped cilantro and any additional toppings like pickled onions, queso fresco, or hot sauce.
  6. Serve immediately while the tostadas are crispy and the shrimp is warm.

  • Use thawed, dry shrimp to avoid excess moisture during cooking.
  • Assemble tostadas just before serving to keep them crispy.
