Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
1 cup powdered sugar
Red and green sprinkles (for decorating)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
Gradually add the yellow cake mix to the butter mixture, stirring until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll each one into a ball.
Roll each ball in powdered sugar, coating it evenly, then top with red and green sprinkles.
Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies have a crackled appearance.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough helps make it easier to roll and shape.
Don’t overbake – cookies should be soft and slightly gooey in the center.
