This Apple Crisp Recipe is the perfect cozy dessert! Sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples are baked under a buttery oat topping until golden and bubbly. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate comfort treat.

Ingredients

  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or mixed), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • For the Crisp Topping:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare apples: In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Make topping: In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  • Assemble & bake: Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over apples. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
  • Serve: Let cool slightly, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor.
  • Add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for crunch.
  • Substitute some of the apples with pears for a fall twist.
  • Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
