These Delicious Cruffins are the perfect combination of a croissant and a muffin, delivering the best of both worlds! With flaky layers, a soft, buttery interior, and a sweet or savory filling of your choice, these cruffins are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a special treat. Easy to make with puff pastry, they’re an impressive addition to any table!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for sweet cruffins)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for sweet cruffins)
  • Optional fillings: chocolate chips, jam, or cream cheese (for sweet), ham and cheese (for savory)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Brush the entire surface with melted butter.
  • Make the filling: If making sweet cruffins, mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered pastry. If making savory cruffins, feel free to sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper or add a savory filling like ham and cheese.
  • Shape the cruffins: Cut the puff pastry into 6 strips. Starting from one end, roll each strip tightly into a spiral, creating a little puffed-up “cruffin” shape. Place each rolled piece into the muffin tin.
  • Bake: Bake the cruffins for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Cool and serve: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired for a sweet finish.

Notes

  • You can get creative with the fillings! For a savory version, consider adding ingredients like spinach, mushrooms, or bacon.
  • These cruffins are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for a day or two.
  • If you’re using store-bought puff pastry, make sure to thaw it before using.
