These Garlic Butter Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and loaded with savory flavor in every bite. Rolled like cinnamon rolls and filled with garlic, Parmesan, and herbs, they’re baked to golden perfection in a cast iron skillet—perfect for holidays, dinners, or cozy comfort food nights.

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • Bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • Unsalted butter
  • Buttermilk
  • Active dry yeast
  • Warm water
  • White sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Garlic Filling:
  • Minced garlic (fresh preferred)
  • Olive oil
  • Unsalted butter
  • Dried basil
  • Dried oregano
  • Black pepper
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • For Brushing:
  • Egg white (for top shine)q

Instructions

  • Activate Yeast: Mix yeast with warm water and a pinch of sugar. Let sit ~5 mins until bubbly.
  • Make Dough: Whisk melted butter with buttermilk and add to yeast mix. Stir in sugar, egg, and dry ingredients. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  • First Rise: Let dough rise in a warm spot until doubled in size.
  • Prepare Garlic Butter: Sauté garlic in olive oil until soft. Mix with butter, herbs, and Parmesan.
  • Roll & Fill: Roll dough out, spread with garlic mixture, sprinkle more Parmesan. Roll into log and slice like cinnamon rolls.
  • Second Rise: Arrange rolls in a greased cast iron skillet or baking dish. Let rise again.
  • Bake: Brush with egg white and bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown (~20–25 mins).
  • Serve: Best served warm straight from the skillet!

  • Can be made ahead and frozen before final rise.
