Indulge in the rich flavors of Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms—a quick and creamy side dish featuring whole white mushrooms sautéed in butter, garlic, and a luscious blend of cream cheese and Parmesan. Ready in just 20 minutes, this dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or as a savory appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • pounds whole white mushrooms, cleaned and dried
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, cubed
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and olive oil.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Introduce the whole mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and become tender.
  • Reduce heat to low. Add the cream cheese cubes, stirring until melted and the mixture becomes creamy.
  • Pour in the heavy cream, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese. Stir to combine, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Season with Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with grilled meats or as a topping for pasta.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat.
