These homemade vegan Cheez-Its are crispy, cheesy, and made with wholesome ingredients. A plant-based twist on the classic snack, they’re perfect for munching anytime!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric (for color)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegan butter (cold and cubed)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 34 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, pulse together flour, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and salt until combined.
  3. Add vegan butter and olive oil and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until a dough forms.
  5. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and roll into a thin sheet (about 1/16-inch thick).
  6. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut into 1-inch squares. Use a skewer or straw to poke a hole in the center of each square.
  7. Transfer squares to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 13-16 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Let cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Use turmeric for color, but it can be omitted if preferred.
  • Be careful not to overbake or they may become too hard.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • For extra cheesy flavor, increase nutritional yeast slightly.
