A quick and easy way to cook frozen salmon in the air fryer with no thawing required. The salmon turns out tender and flaky inside with a lightly crisp exterior in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless, 4 to 6 oz each)
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes so the salmon cooks evenly.
  2. Remove the frozen salmon fillets from the freezer and place them on a plate.
  3. Using a paper towel, gently pat the fillets to remove any visible ice crystals.
  4. Place the frozen salmon fillets in the air fryer basket. If using skin-on fillets, place them skin-side down.
  5. Air fry the salmon for 5 minutes to begin thawing.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  7. Open the air fryer and lightly brush the salmon fillets with the oil and lemon seasoning mixture.
  8. Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 7 to 10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  9. The salmon is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (62°C) and flakes easily with a fork.

Notes

  • If the fillets are thicker than 1 inch, add an extra 1–2 minutes of cooking time.
  • Additional seasonings like garlic powder, paprika, or dried herbs can be added to the marinade.
  • Serve with rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
