A classic tuna melt sandwich with creamy tuna salad, melted cheese, and toasted bread, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 slice tomato
  • 1 slice Cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the tuna, mayonnaise, celery, onion, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the tuna mixture onto one slice of bread.
  4. Top with a slice of tomato and Cheddar cheese.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top to make a sandwich.
  6. Butter the outside of the sandwich lightly.
  7. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute other cheeses like Swiss or provolone.
  • Use whole wheat or sourdough bread for added flavor.
  • Toast the bread beforehand for extra crunch.
