This Instant Pot Applesauce with Skins is an easy, healthy, and quick recipe made with just a few ingredients. It’s naturally sweetened, customizable, and ready in under 30 minutes with no peeling required.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs apples (about 68 medium apples), cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 12 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Wash, core, and chop apples. Do not peel the skins.
  2. Add apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon (if using), and sweetener (if using) to the Instant Pot.
  3. Close the lid, set the valve to sealing, and pressure cook on high for 5 minutes.
  4. Allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  5. Use an immersion blender or potato masher to puree or mash the applesauce to desired consistency.
  6. Let cool before transferring to jars or containers for storage.

Notes

  • You can use any variety or combination of apples; sweet apples like Fuji or Gala reduce the need for added sugar.
  • No need to peel apples, but you can if you prefer a smoother texture.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Adjust sweetness after cooking to taste.
