A simple yet delicious appetizer made with puff pastry filled with a savory beef and cheese mixture, paired with a rich and creamy garlic-parmesan sauce.

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14 oz) puff pastry
  • 20 g (0.7 oz) parsley, chopped
  • 30 g (1.1 oz) melted butter
  • 4 g (0.1 oz) salt
  • 10 g (0.4 oz) garlic, minced
  • 150 g (5.3 oz) beef, cooked and crumbled
  • 150 g (5.3 oz) cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg
  • For the sauce:
  • 10 g (0.4 oz) garlic, minced
  • 40 g (1.4 oz) mayonnaise
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g (1.8 oz) parmesan, grated
  • 25 ml (0.8 fl oz) water
  • 20 ml (0.7 fl oz) olive oil
  • 10 ml (0.3 fl oz) lemon juice
  • 6 g (0.2 oz) sugar
  • 10 g (0.4 oz) mustard
  • 3 g (0.1 oz) salt
  • 3 g (0.1 oz) black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a flat surface.
  3. In a bowl, mix the beef, cheese, chopped parsley, melted butter, garlic, and salt.
  4. Place spoonfuls of the mixture onto the puff pastry and fold over to seal, forming small pockets or rolls.
  5. Brush the top of each pastry with a beaten egg.
  6. Bake in the oven for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. To make the sauce, combine garlic, mayonnaise, egg, parmesan, water, olive oil, lemon juice, sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper in a blender or food processor.
  8. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  9. Serve the baked puff pastries warm with the sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can use ground chicken or turkey instead of beef.
  • Use any melting cheese like mozzarella or cheddar.
  • Prepare the sauce ahead and chill for deeper flavor.
  • These pastries freeze well; reheat before serving.
