Quick, flavorful, and budget-friendly, this Korean Ground Beef Bowl is the ultimate weeknight dinner. Made with seasoned ground beef, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and a touch of sweetness, it comes together in under 30 minutes and is served over steamed rice with fresh toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (or honey)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Optional toppings: shredded carrots, cucumber slices, steamed broccoli, or kimchi

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and fully cooked (about 6–7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the beef.
  • Remove from heat and stir in green onions.
  • Serve the beef mixture over bowls of warm rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Serve with cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
  • Add gochujang (Korean chili paste) for extra spice and authentic flavor.
