This Lemon Garlic Butter Salmon is a quick, flavorful, and healthy dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions. With a perfectly crispy exterior and a tender, flaky interior, this salmon is coated in a rich lemon garlic butter sauce, making it an irresistible dinner option for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Salmon: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the salmon fillets, skin-side down if they have skin. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until the salmon is golden brown and cooked through. The salmon should flake easily with a fork.
  3. Make the Lemon Garlic Butter: While the salmon cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add Lemon: Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and thyme to the melted butter. Let the sauce simmer for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve: Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the skillet and place it on a serving plate. Pour the lemon garlic butter sauce over the salmon fillets. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices.
  6. Enjoy: Serve the salmon with your favorite side dishes, like roasted vegetables, quinoa, or a light salad.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, make sure the salmon is dry before cooking and cook it skin-side down first.
  • You can also bake the salmon at 375°F (190°C) for about 12-15 minutes if you prefer not to pan-sear it.
  • For a little kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the butter sauce.
