This rich and creamy Peppermint Hot Chocolate is made with real chocolate and infused with refreshing peppermint flavor, perfect for cozy winter days.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
  • Crushed peppermint candies or candy canes, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and cream. Heat until steaming, but not boiling.
  2. Whisk in the chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, and sugar. Continue whisking until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the peppermint extract.
  4. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies, if desired.
