Ingredients
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
5 1/2 cups powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
1 tablespoon peppermint extract
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons shortening
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and powdered sugar until a stiff dough forms.
Dust a clean surface with powdered sugar and roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Use a small round cutter to cut out circles from the dough and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Freeze the peppermint rounds for 30 minutes to firm up.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
Dip each peppermint round into the melted chocolate using a fork, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
Place the dipped patties back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to set completely (refrigerate to speed up setting).
Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
You can use white chocolate instead of semi-sweet for a different flavor twist.
Make sure to chill the dough well to make dipping easier.
Store patties in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
