These homemade Peppermint Patties are a delicious and easy no-bake treat made with a creamy peppermint filling coated in rich chocolate. Perfect for the holidays or any time you need a refreshing sweet bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 1/2 cups powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 tablespoon peppermint extract
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons shortening

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and powdered sugar until a stiff dough forms.
  2. Dust a clean surface with powdered sugar and roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  3. Use a small round cutter to cut out circles from the dough and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Freeze the peppermint rounds for 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  6. Dip each peppermint round into the melted chocolate using a fork, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
  7. Place the dipped patties back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to set completely (refrigerate to speed up setting).
  8. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

  • You can use white chocolate instead of semi-sweet for a different flavor twist.
  • Make sure to chill the dough well to make dipping easier.
  • Store patties in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
