Take your garlic bread to the next level with this Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread! Loaded with tender beef, caramelized onions, peppers, and melty provolone cheese, all piled onto buttery garlic bread—this recipe transforms a classic sandwich into the ultimate shareable appetizer or quick dinner.

Ingredients

  • For the Garlic Bread:
  • 1 large French bread loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Cheesesteak Topping:
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin works best)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella/cheddar mix)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Prepare garlic bread: In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic, parsley, and salt. Slice French bread in half lengthwise and spread the mixture evenly. Place on baking sheet.
  • Cook beef & veggies: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Remove beef and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté onions and peppers until soft and caramelized. Return beef to skillet and toss to combine.
  • Assemble: Spread the beef and veggie mixture evenly over the garlic bread halves. Top with provolone cheese slices.
  • Bake: Place in oven for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly. For extra golden cheese, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
  • Serve: Slice into pieces and enjoy hot!

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced deli roast beef for a shortcut.
  • Add mushrooms for an authentic Philly twist.
  • Make it spicy with jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • Store leftovers in foil, reheat in oven for best texture.
