Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 8 ripe plums, pitted and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 egg (for binding)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (more for dusting)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for frying)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them thoroughly.
  • Allow the mashed potatoes to cool slightly, and then mix in the egg, flour, salt, and optional cinnamon.
  • Roll the potato dough into small balls, flatten them slightly, and place a spoonful of chopped plums in the center of each.
  • Gently seal the edges of the dumplings and shape them into little pillows or spheres.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, then carefully drop the dumplings in. Boil until they rise to the surface (about 5-7 minutes).
  • While the dumplings are cooking, heat butter in a pan over medium heat and lightly brown the dumplings on all sides after they’re boiled.
  • Serve the dumplings warm, optionally with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of honey.
