Ingredients

  • For the Red Velvet Brownie Layer:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cheesecake Layer:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Make brownie batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Add eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet and mix until just combined.
  • Prepare cheesecake layer: In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • Layer and swirl: Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan. Dollop half of the cheesecake mixture over it. Repeat with remaining red velvet batter and cheesecake mixture. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers for a marbled effect.
  • Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).

  • Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth cheesecake batter.
