This simple guacamole recipe is fresh, creamy, and full of authentic Mexican flavor made with ripe avocados, lime juice, cilantro, onion, and jalapeño. Perfect as a dip or topping for tacos, burritos, and more.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 small Roma tomato, diced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocados with a fork to your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
  3. Add the chopped onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and salt.
  4. Gently fold in the diced tomato if using.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice as needed.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before refrigerating.
  • Adjust jalapeño amount for more or less heat.
  • Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
