Ingredients

  • 900 g (2 lb) ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined.
  3. Lightly grease a loaf pan with olive oil. Press half of the meat mixture evenly into the pan.
  4. Spread shredded cheese evenly over the center layer.
  5. Cover with the remaining meat mixture and seal the edges to enclose the cheese.
  6. In a small bowl, mix ketchup and mustard, then spread the mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked through.
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
  • Internal temperature should reach 71°C (160°F) for safe consumption.
  • You can substitute cheddar for mozzarella for a sharper flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
