Sweet and Spicy Honey Pepper Chicken served over creamy macaroni cheese is a comforting and flavorful dish with a perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and cheesy goodness.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 8 ounces macaroni pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken until golden and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Slice the cooked chicken into strips and return to the skillet. Toss to coat evenly with the sauce and set aside.
  5. Cook macaroni pasta according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  6. In a pot, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  7. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Combine cooked pasta with cheese sauce until well coated.
  10. Serve macaroni cheese topped with honey pepper chicken and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spiciness.
  • Use freshly grated cheese for best melt and flavor.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for a juicier option.
  • Double the sauce if you prefer extra coating for your chicken and pasta.
