Texas BBQ Chicken Pizza is a flavorful fusion of smoky barbecue sauce, juicy chicken, melty cheeses, and fresh toppings on a crispy crust—perfect for dinner, parties, or casual meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 ball pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing the crust)
  • Cornmeal or flour (for dusting the pizza pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Carefully transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper dusted with cornmeal or flour.
  4. Brush the edges of the dough lightly with olive oil.
  5. Spread a generous layer of BBQ sauce over the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  6. Evenly distribute the chopped or shredded chicken over the sauce.
  7. Add thin slices of red onion over the chicken.
  8. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the toppings.
  9. Carefully transfer the pizza with the parchment paper onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  11. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro, and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for convenience and added flavor.
  • Preheat your baking surface to help keep the crust crispy.
  • Try smoked gouda or pepper jack cheese for variation.
  • Make it vegetarian with plant-based chicken or roasted veggies.
  • Use gluten-free or cauliflower crust as an alternative.
