Fun, easy, and delicious cookies perfect for baking with kids, using simple ingredients and hands-on steps that little helpers will love.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • Optional: colorful sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add salt, vanilla, and eggs, mixing until combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips (and sprinkles if desired).
  • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are golden but centers are still soft.
  • Let cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • Perfect for letting kids measure and mix ingredients.
  • Use silicone baking mats for easier cleanup.
  • Cookies will continue to set while cooling, so don’t overbake.
