Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 loaf bread, cubed
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups green beans
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce
  • 1 pumpkin pie
  • 1 pecan pie
  • 1 dozen dinner rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by seasoning it with salt and pepper, and rub butter under the skin.
  3. Roast the turkey in the oven for 3 to 3.5 hours, basting occasionally.
  4. For stuffing, sauté onions in butter, mix with bread cubes and broth, and bake separately for 45 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  5. Boil potatoes until tender, mash with cream, salt, and pepper.
  6. Steam green beans and top with toasted almonds.
  7. Warm the cranberry sauce on the stove or serve chilled.
  8. Bake or reheat pumpkin and pecan pies according to package or recipe instructions.
  9. Warm dinner rolls in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes.
  10. Carve the turkey and serve with sides and desserts.
