3 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned and cooled
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.
Melt 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan and stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Pour mixture into the prepared pan.
Arrange sliced pears evenly over the caramel mixture.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk browned butter with granulated sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
Pour batter over pears and spread evenly.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

Use firm pears like Bosc or Anjou for best texture.
