Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm plant-based milk (e.g., almond, soy)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup vegan butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegan butter, melted (for brushing)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm plant milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted vegan butter, flour, and salt. Mix to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about 12×9 inches).
  6. Cut into 12 strips, tie each strip into a knot, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the knots for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush warm knots with melted vegan butter and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Notes

  • Use any plant-based milk of your choice.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the dough.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 2–3 days.
