These Warm Baked Apple Fritters are a cozy, healthier twist on the classic fried version. Packed with juicy apples, warm cinnamon, and a golden-brown finish, they’re soft on the inside, slightly crisp on the outside, and drizzled with a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a fall treat with coffee!

Ingredients

  • For the Fritters:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples, peeled & diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (or cream)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar.
  • Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Combine: Fold wet mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Gently stir in diced apples.
  • Shape fritters: Scoop batter into small mounds (about ¼ cup each) on the baking sheet, spacing them apart. Slightly flatten tops.
  • Bake: Bake 15–18 minutes, or until fritters are golden brown and set in the center.
  • Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters.
  • Serve: Enjoy warm with coffee, tea, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

  • Best apples: Tart apples like Granny Smith balance the sweetness.
  • Add-ins: Stir in chopped walnuts, pecans, or raisins.
  • Make-ahead: Store in an airtight container up to 2 days, then reheat in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • For crispier fritters: Brush lightly with melted butter before baking.
