Ingredients
Apple cider
Active dry yeast
Honey
Salted butter
Eggs
All-purpose flour
Brown sugar
Ground cinnamon
Apples, chopped
Apple butter
Powdered sugar
Vanilla extract
Milk or cream
Instructions
Warm the apple cider until comfortably warm, then combine with the yeast and honey. Let sit until the yeast becomes foamy.
Add the butter and eggs, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Prepare the filling by combining brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss the chopped apples with cinnamon.
Roll the risen dough into a large rectangle and spread with butter and apple butter. Sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture and apples.
Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into individual rolls. Arrange in a greased baking dish.
Cover and allow the rolls to rise again until puffy.
Bake until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk or cream to make a smooth icing. Spread or drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
Use a firm, crisp baking apple for the best texture.
The rolls can be assembled ahead of time, refrigerated overnight, and baked the following morning.
Store leftovers covered and gently reheat before serving.
Add milk or cream to the icing gradually to reach your preferred consistency.
