A moist and flavorful banana walnut cake topped with rich cream cheese frosting, perfect for dessert or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated white sugar
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 3 eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups mashed banana
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts
  • 8 ounce cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-inch springform pan with baking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract, yogurt, and mashed banana until well combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until incorporated.
  7. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  8. Transfer batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 55–60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool the cake for 20 minutes, then remove from the pan.
  11. To make the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
  12. Add vanilla extract and gradually mix in confectioners sugar until light and fluffy.
  13. Spread frosting over the cooled cake and garnish with chopped walnuts.
  14. Slice and serve.
