Ingredients
1 lb. ground chicken
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon lime zest
1/4 cup minced onion
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Pinch of ground pepper
Whole wheat or gluten-free hamburger buns, or lettuce buns
Toppings of choice: avocado, ketchup, red onion, jalapeño slices, avocado oil mayo
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, lime juice, lime zest, onion, cilantro, garlic powder, sea salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
Lightly coat a non-stick skillet or grill pan with cooking spray and heat over medium heat.
Add the burgers and cook for 6 to 7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Serve immediately on buns or lettuce wraps with your preferred toppings.
Notes
Do not overmix the chicken mixture to keep the burgers tender.
For extra flavor, let the mixture rest for 10 minutes before shaping.
These burgers can be grilled outdoors over medium heat.
Store cooked burgers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
