This luxurious dish combines succulent shrimp with a velvety garlic cream sauce, served on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes. It’s the perfect blend of creamy, savory, and satisfying—ideal for any occasion when you crave a touch of elegance with your comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: Start by preparing mashed potatoes if you haven’t already. Keep them warm.
  • Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  • Make the Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the Cream: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for another 3-4 minutes, allowing it to thicken.
  • Combine the Shrimp and Sauce: Return the shrimp to the skillet and coat them in the creamy garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  • Serve: Spoon a generous portion of mashed potatoes onto plates. Top with the creamy garlic shrimp and garnish with fresh parsley and optional Parmesan.

Notes

  • You can use frozen shrimp; just make sure to thaw them completely before cooking.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
