This easy oven-baked BBQ brisket is seasoned with a smoky spice rub, slow-cooked until tender, and finished with a caramelized BBQ sauce glaze. Perfect for a hearty family meal or gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons Dry Mustard
  • 45 Pound Beef Brisket, trimmed
  • 1 Cup BBQ Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Trim any excess fat from the brisket.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, brown sugar, and dry mustard.
  3. Pat the brisket dry, poke several holes with a fork, and season generously on both sides with the spice mixture.
  4. Place the brisket uncovered in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours.
  5. Wrap the brisket tightly in foil and place it in a baking dish with the fat side facing up.
  6. Bake for 4-5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 175 degrees F.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest, covered, for 30-60 minutes until the internal temperature reaches about 195 degrees F.
  8. Brush the brisket with BBQ sauce and broil for 5-6 minutes until glazed.
  9. Slice against the grain and serve.

  • For best flavor, refrigerate the seasoned brisket overnight before cooking.
  • Use your favorite BBQ sauce for a customized flavor profile.
  • Slice against the grain for the most tender texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
