These frozen chocolate covered bananas are a simple and refreshing treat made with ripe bananas, rich melted chocolate, and crunchy toppings. Perfect for a healthier dessert or summer snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium bananas
  • 6 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons chopped almonds, peanuts, sprinkles, and/or shredded coconut
  • 8 bamboo skewers or popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the bananas and cut each banana in half.
  3. Insert a bamboo skewer or popsicle stick into each banana half.
  4. Arrange the bananas on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour or until fully frozen.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together using a double boiler or microwave. If using a microwave, heat for 1 minute, stir, then continue heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  6. Dip each frozen banana half into the melted chocolate, coating as much as desired.
  7. Immediately sprinkle with chopped almonds, peanuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or other toppings before the chocolate sets.
  8. Return the coated bananas to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Serve immediately or freeze until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Work quickly when decorating, as the chocolate hardens rapidly on frozen bananas.
  • Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.
  • Use dairy-free chocolate chips to keep the recipe vegan.
  • Try different toppings such as crushed cookies, mini chocolate chips, or chopped nuts.
