Juicy grilled BBQ chicken breasts are seasoned simply and finished with a flavorful barbecue sauce glaze. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners or backyard cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Ground pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil or avocado oil, for grill grates
  • 1/3 cup homemade BBQ sauce or favorite store-bought sauce, plus extra for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Season the chicken breasts generously with sea salt and ground pepper.
  2. Clean and lightly oil the grill grates. Place the chicken on the top rack of the grill.
  3. Grill for 5 to 6 minutes, or until grill marks form and the chicken releases easily from the grates.
  4. Flip the chicken and grill for another 5 to 6 minutes.
  5. Brush BBQ sauce over the chicken, flip, and brush the other side with sauce.
  6. Continue grilling for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Discard any sauce that came into contact with raw chicken.
  8. Remove the chicken from the grill and let rest for 1 to 2 minutes.
  9. Serve with additional fresh BBQ sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Using the upper grill rack helps keep the chicken moist while still adding smoky flavor.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches 165°F.
  • Letting the chicken rest briefly helps retain its juices.
