These Halloween Rice Krispie Treats are soft, gooey, and packed with colorful chocolate candies, candy corn, and festive sprinkles. This easy no-bake Halloween dessert comes together quickly and is perfect for parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 15 ounces marshmallows, mini or regular
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 9 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1 cup Halloween-colored chocolate candies
  • 1/2 cup Halloween sprinkles
  • 1 cup candy corn

Instructions

  1. Line a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with foil and lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Place the butter and marshmallows in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-low, stirring regularly, until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and immediately stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Add the crispy rice cereal and gently stir until evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool very briefly, then fold in the Halloween-colored chocolate candies, candy corn, and sprinkles. Work quickly before the marshmallow mixture begins to set.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly grease your hands or a spatula with nonstick cooking spray and gently press the mixture into an even layer without packing it down too firmly.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely for approximately 30 to 60 minutes.
  8. Lift the cooled slab from the pan and cut it into 16 squares before serving.

Notes

  • Avoid overheating the marshmallows or firmly packing the mixture into the pan, as either can make the treats hard and dense.
  • For extra-gooey treats, fold in a handful of additional mini marshmallows shortly before transferring the mixture to the pan.
  • Candy corn can be replaced with additional chocolate candies, chopped candy bars, peanut butter candies, or other Halloween sweets.
  • For a chocolate variation, replace some or all of the crispy rice cereal with chocolate-flavored crispy cereal.
  • For extra decoration, drizzle cooled treats with melted white, milk, or dark chocolate or colorful candy melts.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature with parchment or wax paper between layers. The treats have the best texture within 2 to 3 days.
  • Avoid refrigeration when possible because cold temperatures can make the treats firmer.
  • For longer storage, individually wrap the treats and freeze in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 1 to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • Reheating is not necessary, but a slightly firm treat can be microwaved for a few seconds to soften it. Use caution because melted marshmallow and candy can become very hot.
