This homemade strawberry lemonade is a refreshing, tangy drink made with fresh strawberries and lemon juice, perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water (divided use)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups strawberries (hulled)
  • 1 cup lemon juice (from 56 large lemons)
  • crushed ice (to serve, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, boil 1 cup water with sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves and liquid looks clear. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
  2. Blend strawberries with lemon juice until smooth. Combine strawberry mixture with cooled sugar syrup.
  3. Strain strawberry/sugar mixture through fine mesh sieve, reserving pulp and catching juices in 2 quart jug. Place pulp back into sieve and rinse with 2 cups water to strain out any remaining flavor/sugar (catch juices in jug, too; discard pulp).
  4. Stir 5-7 cups water into strawberry mixture, yielding a stronger or milder lemonade. Use club soda in place of water for a sparkling lemonade.

Notes

  • For a sparkling lemonade, use club soda instead of water.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar syrup.
  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
